Navigating the Four C’s of LifeSource
If you were to draw a 5-mile circle around LifeSource church, the northern part of the circle would rest near Silverwood, the eastern part on Canfield Mountain, the southern part on Cougar Gulch and the western part would take in a significant part of the prairie toward Hwy 41.
Community
In a general way, the 5-mile circle represents the primary mission field of LifeSource. Portions of that territory are shared with other local Adventist churches. Even though this area includes distinct Coeur d’Alene and Hayden neighborhoods, we generally think of the larger territory as the COMMUNITY we serve, and from which we typically draw people to our worship services. The COMMUNITY is to be loved, served, and encouraged by the local church. It is, therefore, the specific target of our ministries.
Crowd
Those who actually attend services at LifeSource are referred to as the CROWD. The CROWD is composed of church members, the children of members, visitors from other churches and members of the COMMUNITY who have come as guests to our church. The CROWD is here to enjoy the blessings of God through study, worship, and fellowship.
Committed
Those who become active members of the congregation are called the COMMITTED. These are the folks who have joined through baptism, profession of faith (previously baptized by immersion seeking membership at LifeSource), or by membership transfer from another Adventist church. The COMMITTED come under the spiritual care of the pastoral staff and LifeGroups. If you are a member of the congregation, you may expect the pastors and LifeGroups to express a sincere interest and concern about you and your family. They will assist with any significant issues that may challenge you or your family. You may expect the pastoral staff and leaders to pray for and with you concerning your journey with Jesus Christ. They do this because, as part of the church family, you are now brothers and sisters in the body of Christ.
Core
Within the circle of the COMMITTED is one more circle – the CORE. The CORE represents those church members who have accepted primary leadership responsibilities in one or more areas of church life. We rely on our CORE members to “lead the charge” in nurturing the congregation, leading LifeGroups, directing specific ministries, giving personal Bible studies, and in heading up outreach that touch real needs in the surrounding COMMUNITY.
In summary, people from the COMMUNITY form the CROWD; people from the CROWD form the COMMITTED; COMMITTED members become CORE leaders; and the CORE leads the way back into the COMMUNITY. These are our Four C’s at LifeSource.
